Author: Cynthia Hand
Source: Amazon Kindle Edition
Sapphired Dragon Rating: ****

Synopsis ( via Goodreads):
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

Review:
I really enjoyed this book. I initially went into it knowing little else than those i knew that had read it thoroughly enjoyed it. i hadn't read the synopsis even so I went into the book completely blind and just hoping for a good read.I was basically drawn in from the first page. Ms Hand built a solid foundation with characters that were both likeable and believable and drew you to the path you thought would lead you straight through the book. However then Ms Hand added twists and turns, side roads and off shoots that made you realise that maybe the path was not so straightforward after all and each additional twist or thread added to the over all story and kept drawing you further and further down its path. The only thing that, at least in my opinion, brought this book down from a 4 1/2 - 5 star book to a 4 star book was the ending... Not going to give give anything away but lets just say while I did guess some elements of it and i did like that I didn't expect other elements, I was as satisfied with the ending as I would have liked to have been and it left with me a more of "oh ok" feeling rather than an "Oh my goodness that was awesome"feeling. That being said, I immensely enjoyed this story and am anxiously awaiting next payday so I can buy book two HallowedA definite 4 star rating for this book and a recommendation to go read ASAP!! :)
