Waiting on Wednesday #20 : The Crown by Kiera Cass

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on The Crown by Kiera Cass. I bought the first book of this series, The Selection, when it first came out in 2012 and devoured it in one sitting.  I eagerly bought book 2, The Elite, when it came out and I again purchased both The One and subsequent book The Heir shortly after they came out.
But for whatever reason I didn't get around to reading them till just after Christmas last year when I read them all in the space of a weekend and was running out to the book shop on New Years Eve desperate to buy a copy of Happily Ever After so I could read that immediately also. (Doesn't everyone make  emergency visits to the book shop on New Years Eve??)

Long story short, I need to know how this story and series is going to turn out. I need to know who Eadlyn is going to choose. I need this book now!

Kiera Cass’s bestselling Selection series has enchanted readers from the very first page. Now the end of the journey is here, in a wonderfully romantic series finale that will sweep you off your feet.

Twenty years have passed since the events of The One, and America and Maxon’s daughter is the first princess to hold a Selection of her own. Princess Eadlyn didn’t think she would find a real partner among the Selection’s thirty-five suitors, let alone true love. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you... and now Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more difficult—and more important—than she ever expected.

The Selection series has sold more than 3 million copies and captured the hearts of fans around the world. This swoon-worthy final installment is the happily ever after they’ve all been waiting for.

Waiting on Wednesday #19 - A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab #waitingonwednesday

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on A Gathering of Shadows  (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab . This is the second book in the Shades of Magic series.  I only discovered this series recently when I read book 1 for goodreads group read-a-long.  However I enjoyed it enough that I pre-ordered my copy of book 2 and cannot wait to receive it.

Book 1 kind of took me by surprise as I enjoyed it more than I expected to.  I had owned a copy for a while but never quite gotten around to reading it and probably only picked it up to read earlier this year as it was part of a reading challenge I was participating in in on of my goodreads group.  And looking at the blurb for book 2, I think this might even be better than book 1.  I am really hoping we will get to find out more about Delilah Bard in this book.  I am also looking forward to learning more about Black London.

Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.

In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall.

Waiting on Wednesday #18: The Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on The Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard. Book 1, The Red Queen was one of the first books I read in 2015 and one of the best, and I gave it 5 stars when I reviewed it here.

The early bird reviews I have seen are all saying that this is even better so it is any wonder it is on my pre-order list.  I am looking forward to getting lost in this world and story again :-)

Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

Waiting on Wednesday #16 : Night Study (Soulfinder #2) byMaria V Snyder

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on Night Study which is the second book in the Soulfinder series and the fifth in the overall study series and continues on with Yelena and Valek's story.

The previous book ( see my review here) left in a bit of a cliff hanger with a revelation that I had gleefully guessed earlier but was only revealed in the last few pages so I am completely hanging out for this book to see what will happen as a result.

This has got to be one of most favourite series in recent time, with Yelena and Valek's being two of my favourite characters and one of my favourite couples.  It's one of those series where you immediately drop everything to read as soon as the newest book makes it into your hands. So I cannot cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Night Study (Soulfinder #2)) by Maria V Snyder

New York Times bestselling author Maria V. Snyder transports readers back to the realms of Sitia and Ixia in an exciting new Study novel full of magic, danger and intrigue.

Ever since being kidnapped from the Illiais Jungle as a child, Yelena Zaltana’s life has been fraught with peril. But the recent loss of her Soulfinding abilities has endangered her more than ever before. As she desperately searches for a way to reclaim her magic, her enemies are closing in, and neither Ixia nor Sitia are safe for her anymore. Especially since the growing discord between the two countries and the possibility of a war threatens everything Yelena holds dear.

Valek is determined to protect Yelena, but he’s quickly running out of options. The Commander suspects that his loyalties are divided, and he’s been keeping secrets from Valek...secrets that put him, Yelena and all their friends in terrible danger. As they uncover the various layers of the Commander’s mysterious plans, they realise it's far more sinister than they could have ever imagined.

Waiting on Wednesday #15: Marked in Flesh (The Others #4) by Anne Bishop

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop, the fourth book in the epic Others series.  This series is absolutely amazing and the last book left humanity on the precipice of being rendered extinct by the Others, owners of the land who have been angered by pockets of humans actions against them.

These books have just the right level of creepiness in its writing of the Others, the non humans that own the land the humans live on and most of the time see humans as food.  They also supply humans with all their resources to live ie wood , coal, crops, metals etc and the way Ms Bishop writes this series,  one is not always on human kind's side.

And I want to see more of Simon and Meg, their relationship and also the other characters of the courtyard.

This book is not out until March next year but this series is so good that already I am thinking about it and wondering how the next instalment of this tale is going to unfold.

For centuries, the Others and humans have lived side by side in uneasy peace. But when humankind oversteps its bounds, the Others will have to decide how much humanity they’re willing to tolerate—both within themselves and within their community...

Since the Others allied themselves with the cassandra sangue, the fragile yet powerful human blood prophets who were being exploited by their own kind, the delicate dynamic between humans and Others changed. Some, like Simon Wolfgard, wolf shifter and leader of the Lakeside Courtyard, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn, see the new, closer companionship as beneficial—both personally and practically.

But not everyone is convinced. A group of radical humans is seeking to usurp land through a series of violent attacks on the Others. What they don’t realize is that there are older and more dangerous forces than shifters and vampires protecting the land that belongs to the Others—and those forces are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect what is theirs…

Waiting on Wednesday #14 : The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard #1) by Rick Riordan.  Being released in Oz on October 6, this is the first book in the newest series by Rick Riordan.

I love both Percy Jackson series' and think they are a lot of  fun so I am excited for this new series with a new main character and Norse Gods.  Its also kinda nice to be able to start reading a series from the outset and join in with ongoing excitement rather than finally catching on way after the last book has been released.

I am also really excited as I have managed to pre-order a signed copy from Booktopia!!

Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he's never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. His uncle tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years. When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision. Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

Waiting on Wednesday: Firewalker (The World Walker Trilogy #2) by Josephine Angelini

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on Firewalker (Worldwalker #2) by Josephine Angelini.  Being released in Oz on September 1st, this is the second book in the World Walker series.

What first attracted me to this series was the gorgeous cover of book 1 however and the book 2 cover below is just as gorgeous.  However this then became another one of those series that completely captured my imagination.  I mean alternate worlds, magic and witch craft, mistaken identity and Love.

Plus I am one of those people that always says after a book finishes "But what happened next?"  I think that is why I love series' so much.  I can't wait to see what happens when Lily gets back to her own universe!

Worlds divide, magic slays, and love lies in the second book of Josephine Angelini’s The Worldwalker Trilogy.

"You think I’m a monster, but my choices, as ruthless as they seem, are justified."

Lily is back in her own universe, and she's ready to start a new life with Rowan by her side. True, she almost died in the Pyre that fueled their escape from New Salem, and must hide her magic for the safety of everyone she cares about, but compared to fighting the Woven, the monstrous creatures inhabiting the alternate Salem, life is looking pretty good.

Unfortunately, Lillian, ruthless ruler of the 13 Cities, is not willing to let Lily go that easily. If she can’t persuade Lily to return to her world, she will force her to come back by doing away with the ones she loves.

Picking up right where Trial By Fire left off, Firewalker is another sexy, fast-paced, heartbreaking thrill ride from internationally bestselling author Josephine Angelini!

Waiting on Wednesday #12: Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass #4) by Sarah J Maas

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week, like probably most of the rest of the world I am waiting on Queen of Shadows by Sara J Maas, the fourth book ( well, fifth if you include the Assassin's Blade novellas) in the Throne of Glass series.

I first read Throne of Glass  shortly after it came out in 2012 and loved it.  However a year is a long time, especially when its the year your first child is born. So by the time Crown of Midnight came out, whilst I bought a copy and then Heir of Fire the following year, I never quite got around to reading them.

It wasn't till early this year when I bought kindle/audible versions and listened all the way through from the first novella in Assassin's Blade through to the end of heir of Fire, that I really, truly fell in love with series.

Now I am joining the rest of the horde that is waiting to see what happens next to Caelena, Chaol. Prince Dorian and Rowan having already pre-ordered both paperback and hard copies :-)

I absolutely cannot wait to get this book!

Sarah J. Maas's New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series reaches new heights in this sweeping fourth volume.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.

Celaena’s epic journey has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions across the globe. This fourth volume will hold readers rapt as Celaena’s story builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

Waiting on Wednesday #11: Ten Thousand Skies above You (Firebird #2) by Claudia Gray

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

This week I am waiting on Ten Thousand Skies Above You (Firebird #2) by Claudia Gray. I adored A Thousand Pieces of You which is one of my favourite reads so far this year so I am anxiously awaiting this next book.  There is something about alternate universes I have always found fascinating especially when the story is good and I love Claudia Gray's writing so this series really is kinda perfect for me.

Also I am a complete sucker for the cover! The cover for A Thousand Pieces of you was absolutely gorgeous but the cover for this book is...dare I say it? Ten Thousand times better again :-P :-P

I absolutely cannot wait to get this book!

Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents' invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.

Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.

The second book in the Firebird trilogy, Ten Thousand Skies Above You features Claudia Gray’s lush, romantic language and smart, exciting action, and will have readers clamoring for the next book.

It is the second book in The Winner's trilogy and having finished book 1, The Winner's Curse over the weekend, I am DYING to get my hands on this one and find out what happens next. Waiting on Wednesday #9: AWOL (The Timekeepers #3) By Traci Harding

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday!  Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly featured hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight the not yet released books that I wish were in my hot little hands right now.

Yet another book I cannot wait to get my hands on and which has already been pre-ordered. AWOL is book 3 of the Time Keepers Series which is part of a much larger universe written by Traci Harding starting with the Ancient Future, which is probably my most favourite book of all time. This series changed my life (literally) and getting involved in the fandom and forum associated with these books and this author introduced me to some of my greatest and most inspirational friends so I cannot wait for this final book and see the conclusion of of it all :-)

AWOL(Time Keepers #3) by Traci Harding

Fate is open to intervention.

The timekeepers return to the Astro-Marine Institute Explorer (AIME) to stop their nemesis interfering with the departure of an otherworldly being currently residing on Oceane. They agree to regroup one week before the interference is due to take place - but one team member seems to be taking an unofficial detour.

An opportunity to prevent the incident altogether arises four years before the rendezvous. But to revisit this instance would be seen as a betrayal to many of the timekeepers and set them at war with one another.

To end all the ancient curses at the route of the disputes between star systems, to pave the way for psychic freedom and achieve AMIE's primary objective, one team member will break the principal rule of Timekeeping and quantum jump into their history alone
